CBD and THC Drinks You Need to Have in Your Fridge

There are some weed and alcohol companies that really want us to drink weed, and for some, we are here for it — if they are delicious, well-crafted, and potent enough to write home about, that is. And while smoking and vaping are not going anywhere, people may be considering swapping beer for bud at the bar entirely.

The cannabis-infused beverage market is on a steady rise. This 2019 report by global food and drink firm Zenith Global predicts it to reach $1.4 billion by 2024. While the market has a long way to go to reach that coveted “B” word in sales, these cannabis-infused drinks, responsible for $89 million worth of sales in 2018, may make an impact.

Here are eight cannabidiol (CBD) and THC-infused beverages worth throwing back.

Lagunitas Hi-Fi Hops

Zero calories, zero carbs, zero alcohol? All huge draws for anyone looking to try a weed-infused drink. This cannabis “brew” (read: sparkling water) from Lagunitas, a beloved Northern California brewery founded in 1993, is as delicious as it is innovative, receiving a wave of press as the first cannabis “beer” of its kind on the market. 

You can find it in dispensaries in California, but the company says it hopes to enter more markets soon. Its flavor profile will echo notes of, “tropical, citrus, floral & fruitiness, slight passionfruit and mango cream.” Its THC and CBD extracts are grown by AbsoluteXtracts, and come in two doses: 10 milligrams of THC, and 5 milligrams of THC and 5 milligrams of CBD. 

The company recently made waves as one of the cannabis purveyors at the Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco in Grass Lands, the first “Hi-Fi-Dration Station” where the company was able to pour it’s cannabis drinks legally to adults at the festival. Legal Beverages

These potent tonics are well-liked weed beverages in Oregon, Washington, and California. A nod to the end of cannabis prohibition, Legal offers brooding and elegant packaging in its dark glass bottles. They are filled with unique and flavorful beverages, including an eye-opening coffee mocha that is divine. At 80 milligrams of THC, it is a fan favorite. Legal Beverages’ Sparkling Cranberry has 40 milligrams of CBD with cranberries from a local farm on Washington’s Long Beach Peninsula. Other desirable flavors of Legal to drink? Sparkling Lemon Ginger, a sparkling Rainer Cherry, and a sparkling Pomegranate.

Dixie Elixirs

The Colorado-born company is a staple in the well-established Rocky Mountains market. Since its founding in 2010, it’s grown to serve California, Nevada, Maryland, Michigan, and now Canada. Dixie products use cannabis from quality growers, including Choice Labs among others. Dixie Elixirs is even partnering with Arizona Iced Tea in the U.S. and Canada to infuse various edibles and versions of its teas for the cannasseur. 

Its Elixirs are the company’s well-known weed-infused beverage lineup. Favorites are its Half & Half, a tangy and sweet Arnie Palmer available in both 100 milligram and 200 milligram servings of THC; a sweet, slightly warm and spicy Root Beer that contains 100 milligrams per bottle; and its Berry Lemonade, a super-sweet purple lemonade, all of which are best served cold. The cap of the drink itself makes for easy dosing, with a recommended 6 milligrams per serving to start. Dixie’s lineup of beverages is gluten-free and vegan.

Vybes

The colorful delicious, most hip cannabidiol (CBD) drink company Vybes offers a lineup of CBD-infused concoctions that will make you taste buds and endocannabinoid system (ECS) sing. Plus, Vybes always lists its most recent lab results for complete transparency. Based in Los Angeles, Vybes offers these five wild flavors in its current lineup: Blueberry Mint, Peach Ginger, Strawberry Lavender, Honey Crisp Apple Basil, and Burning Mandarin. Each bottle contains 25 milligrams of hemp-derived CBD and 12 grams of sugar for 45 calories per 14 fluid ounce (414 milliliter) bottle. The Honeycrisp Apple flavor shows minimalist ingredients like unfiltered Honeycrisp apple juice, lemon juice, agave, basil, green teal, hemp extract, and “100% LA Vibes”.

Founded in 2013, the originally mom-and-pop operation has grown into a multistate drinkable weed staple with its line of THC-infused edibles. This company claims to have “canned a feeling” with its sleek, strongly-flavored CBD drinks. It’s a sparkling water infused with hemp-derived CBD and adaptogens, a term used in herbal medicine for substances believed to protect the body against stressors. Recess cans of CBD seltzer pack a punch on your taste buds, indeed. Flavors in the Recess lineup include Blackberry Chai, Peach Ginger, Pomegranate Hibiscus, and each can contains 10 milligrams of CBD in its broad-spectrum hemp oil, along with adaptogens Schisandra, a berry, L-Theanine, green tea amino acid, and American ginseng. Recess is dripping with chic aesthetic, featured in a New York Times article this year called, “How to Make a Millennial Feel Cozy in Just One Beverage.”

Sprig

Like the La Croix of CBD-infused drinks, Sprig is a sippable, bubbly CBD beverage you will love. With 20 milligrams of CBD in each can, Sprig’s four flavors — Melon, Lemon Tea, Citrus, and Citrus Zero — echo tastes of a mellow, citrusy, CBD-fueled Fresca. Its tonics come in High Horse, made with spicy ginger, lime and infused with a Pineapple Jack sativa strain to the tune of 10 milligrams of THC per bottle. Another tonic offered is called Stone Daisy, which consists of blue agave, lime, plus Pineapple Jack sativa. These little beauties are only 30 calories and contain just 6 grams of sugar per bottle. Best of all? They may remind you of your favorite alcoholic elixirs, without the bad hangover. Thanks for the ingenuity, Tinley. 

The company also offers “casks” of cannabis elixir that are ideal for making mixed drinks, including a Coconut Cask, Almond Cask, and Cinnamon Cask, containing 85 milligrams of THC per bottle, with about 8 1/2 servings of 10 milligrams each.
